Production methods available through our supply network may include: • Cold forming • Precision machining • Deep drawing • Metal stamping • Secondary finishing processes Our goal is to provide customers with reliable access to high-quality engineered components while maintaining flexibility in sourcing and production capabilities.

Cold forming technology

Explore five successive forming stages, sectioned die views, detailed finger transfer and final discharge in our 2-minute 14-second process film.
Five-station cold forming: from blank to finished component. This 2-minute 14-second 3D film combines five successive forming stages with sectioned die views, detailed finger transfer, faster continuous operation and final discharge. Close-up views show how the component geometry develops at each station. Original 3D process illustration; simplified tooling and illustrative cycle timing. It explains general principles, rather than a specific manufacturer’s machine or a validated forming simulation.
Read the five-station sequence
  1. Head preform: a longer cut blank is upset to establish a wider head.
  2. Extruded shank: forward extrusion reduces the shank diameter and extends its length.
  3. Flange and shoulder: the next die develops the stepped body and flange.
  4. Blind recess: backward extrusion introduces a formed cavity.
  5. Hexagonal head: the final station forms the external head profile and sizes the body. The completed part is ejected, transferred clear of the tools and released into the discharge tray.

The film shows different workpieces at successive stages, including synchronised operation and close-up views. Actual stage designs, transfer systems and operation sequences depend on the component and machine.

Secondary machining, where required

Secondary cutting is selected only where forming alone cannot suitably meet the required geometry, tolerance or surface finish. It is not an automatic step after cold forming.
Selective secondary machining: workholding, cutting and discharge. This 66-second 3D film explains loading and clamping, radial grooving, optional edge finishing, axial drilling, conceptual cam-operated feed and controlled unloading. Operations are selected for the component drawing; not every part requires every operation. Original process illustration with simplified tooling, timing and chip behaviour. The section view pauses rotation for visibility. The cam assembly explains a general principle and does not reproduce a specific manufacturer’s machine.
